Thomas D. Reid received his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. Prior to his law school career, he studied Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada in Reno, Nevada. Tom is currently licensed to practice law in California, Nevada and Oregon. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity, the University of Nevada Alumni Association, and the California, Nevada, and Oregon State Bars. He served as the Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and is currently a past President of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association. Tom has had a wide array of experiences in the financial industry since his law school career working for E*Trade Financial and Investors Bank and Trust. While working at E*Trade Financial, he obtained a wealth of knowledge regarding investments and financial planning through administering the accounts of numerous high-profile corporate clients and their employees. At Investors Bank and Trust, Tom reconciled investment transactions to protect corporate clients’ assets. His knowledge of investment strategies and the financial industry, as a whole, provides his clients with a strong base from which to preserve wealth and secure their assets from unnecessary fees and taxes.

Tom has practiced estate planning and business law since 2005. During the representation of his clients, Tom provided a wide variety of services including but not limited to representing beneficiaries in multi-million dollar trust disputes, serving as legal counsel in trust litigation cases, assisting clients in minimizing estate tax liability and unnecessary probate fees, probating estates, and drafting business documents for small to medium sized businesses in the Northern California area.

Tom provides estate planning, business, probate, trust administration, and litigation services to the firm’s clients.  His focus on advocacy in law school and his professional career provides an invaluable asset to the firm’s clients by both counseling clients as to how to avoid litigation and providing litigation support for clients who find themselves involved in litigation. Tom firmly believes the key to successful planning lies in obtaining an experienced litigation attorney that has seen first-hand in court the pitfalls of improper planning.

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Tom currently resides with his wife, Kate, and sons, Hayes, Tate and Ky, in Fair Oaks, California. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling (having visited 43 of the 50 states), attending college basketball and football games, and playing ice hockey. Tom is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and can be found fishing on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula on his time off.
